Unacademy Educator Mansoorali Kappungal is nothing short of a celebrity in Kerala. Who would have thought that the once modest special superintendent of the Kasargod Sub-Jail, would now be a household name in the state. His story is one of dedication and equal amounts of inspiration. One that not only touches your heart but also compels you to believe that you can crack it.

His journey of becoming one of the most renowned faces of Kerala can be traced back to the day he joined Unacademy. A native of Edathanattukara, he joined Unacademy in June 2018. Before Unacademy, Mansoorali managed to educate just a handful of Kerala PSC aspirants. His brilliance, however, was limited just to the aspirants who lived in his hometown. But something revolutionary was in store for the future of Kerala PSC aspirants. When Unacademy’s team reached out to him, Mansoorali realised that aspirants can now attend his classes from each and every corner of the state.

Every interaction with Mansoorali, small or big, has left us in awe of the sheer passion with which he fuels his dream of revolutionising education in Kerala. But what makes him so special? Perhaps his simplicity. Perhaps his dedication. This incident will put everything into perspective. Just a month after Mansoorali joined Unacademy, he won the Educator of the Month award. This was during the Kerala floods, and it was almost impossible for him to come to Bangalore for the award ceremony. But it was his drive and passion that made the impossible, possible. He crossed several districts in Kerala on his bike, to reach the airport — an otherwise herculean task. At the award ceremony, Mansoorali spoke about how his work as an Unacademy Educator was enriching and changing the lives of Kerala PSC aspirants.

Today, Mansoorali is popularly known as the Prince of Kerala PSC and is the №1 Educator for Kerala PSC on Unacademy. With over 60M views on his lessons, his knowledge is unparalleled when it comes to cracking Kerala PSC. Just in the last one month, Mansoorali’s classes have garnered more than 1 million Live Learning Minutes from learners.

Of the 61 odd PSC examinations that Mansoorali has written since 2010, he has cracked 51. His list of credentials include an M.A degree in History, a B.Ed degree, and many respectable designations with the Government of Kerala. From joining Kerala Police’s India Reserve Battalion to becoming the special superintendent of Kasargod Sub-Jail, 32-year old Mansoorali is an idol for all Kerala PSC aspirants. The ease with which he explains complicated topics, and the way he condenses a 10 page lesson into a page long summary, makes him truly special.

His success is hard earned, and rightfully deserved. Mansoorali lost his father at the tender age of 10. His elder brothers, Aboobacker K and Abdulla K, both primary school teachers, had a very big role in his upbringing. Thus, the dream of becoming a teacher was perhaps etched in a young Mansoorali, from the very beginning. A studious Mansoorali developed a special penchant for history. After his master’s in history, he went on to complete his BEd. Soon after his BEd, Mansoorali cracked his first PSC test. This was back in 2010. But his tryst with competitive exams began when was just 18. It was a year after he had lost his mother. He started appearing for the PSC examinations and cleared the constable examination at the very first go. The realisation dawned upon him that if he tried enough, he could crack any PSC examination.

If this is not brilliance, we don’t know what is. It is only fair that he devotes this brilliance into shaping the future of this country. Mansoorali’s tryst with PSC examinations only made his resolve stronger. He made use of his knowledge and experience of giving so many examinations in the most noble way possible — by choosing to become a teacher. He has been teaching Kerala PSC aspirants for the past 6 years, a journey he wishes to continue for a lifetime. An incident that particularly left an impact on him was when he was stopped by a CISF constable at the airport, when he was about to board a flight to Bangalore. A flummoxed Mansoorali was not ready for what was coming his way. While he thought that it was an item that he was carrying, it was really the T-Shirt he was wearing. The Unacademy T-shirt that Mansoorali was wearing, made the CISF constable stop and thank him. He had been attending Mansoorali’s classes on Unacademy, and that’s how he cracked Kerala PSC, and landed the job. Life had come full circle for Mansoorali, that made his resolve to help more students crack Kerala PSC stronger.

A mind as brilliant as his, also lays a lot of importance on physical health. Mansoor cycles 20 kms everyday, to keep stress at bay. Sometimes he also takes his one and a half year old son along, on his cycling expeditions.

Every month, Mansoorali makes it a point to visit an old age home. The loss of his own mother was a turning point in his life and he finds solace in the warmth with which he is welcomed by two mothers in the home. He says, ‘It is their blessings that helped me achieve the satisfaction and success in life’.

Here’s hoping that this beautiful mind keeps touching lives and keeps enriching the minds of millions.
